This is all rather topical for me, as just last week I subscribed to the Adobe Creative Cloud service. It gives me all the Adobe applications, Premiere and After Effects included, for £38.99 a month. Whilst I'll never actually own the software, the subscription keeps me up-to-date with the most recent releases of the suite.
I hadn't looked at Premiere for about 15 years, and have been very impressed so far. I'm not replacing Avid just yet, but pricey updates like these make me think.
