I don't doubt you made the right decision. The "right" decision is different for all of us - that's perhaps the point. Do we have kids or do we not? How old are we? How well established are we? Are we the primary financial breadwinners in our families or not? What health or income challenges might our families face in the near future?
There's no one way to be an editor in this country. All of us have to advocate for the situation that's best for us, given where we live and what we're willing to do.
