Take a look at QT change from video tool shed. You can export a QT Ref and it will add a time code burnin in a few seconds. You can then make self contained QTs in QT Pro for review. The time code window is fast making the self contained QTs isn't but it won't tie up your avid. You can even make the QTs right from QT change but I've had some glithes with the quality settings not sticking unless I use QT Pro. YMMV QT change is an awesome app.
