Re: [Avid-L2] Computer Monitors

Curtis,

As a freelancer, I work with different clients' setups as well as my
own. I have worked on dual monitor setups and single large monitors.

I definitely prefer two monitors. Although I do finishing work, most of
my time is spent cutting content.

I have (2) 23" cinema displays for my personal setup. I used to use 21"
screens and the 23s make a big difference. I wouldn't want to go any
larger for dual monitors however..

On my right hand monitor are source/record window, timeline, and a
little room for smaller windows like the audio tool, etc.

On my left hand monitor I have the project window, bins, audio mix tool,
enlarged timecode display, etc. On Scriptsynced projects I have one or
more scripts open on the left also. I like having larger bins using
script or frame view, and even with the bin tabs in 6.0 and/or some
overlapping, they take up a lot of real estate.

A single 27" or 30' monitor doesn't allow for a good layout of the above
windows, particularly scripts. The aspect ration isn't wide enough, so
things don't fit as well. You can get the wider aspect using 2 monitors.

One factor in favor of the 30: if desk surface space is an issue, a
single 30" is more compact than a pair of 23s.
