As promised, I've written up and posted my Lemur version of an Avid control surface. As the Neyrick is apparently based on emulating a Command 8, I've emulated an approved Avid device made by a company whose name rhymes with Hooper.

I will say that many of the limitations noted by trevatpc are with the Avid's handling of these devices, or so it seems to me.
To address some of that, when working on a Mac, I've come up with a system for using Keyboard Maestro to add functions beyond what the MIDI controllers can do with Avid; Keyboard Maestro can respond to MIDI notes with any of its automations, so I've used that to add transport controls, and buttons to swap the group on the Audio Mixer tool, for instance.
Also, for info on setting Neyrick up on a PC you might look at another quick write up I did; I found a fairly low-impact way to get my tools working on a PC with MC 6 & 6.03

The value of any of these remote control utilities on an iPad is substantially higher if you also use any audio apps. For instance, there's a pretty good Lemur template called Mu for working with Ableton Live; for many folks that alone would be worth the 50 bucks.
Anyway, these tools are very nice to work with, but none of them will read my producer's mind, which is my real issue this week :P
