A Sound Devices tech note:
Sync Offset When Using PIX Audio Inputs with Camera Video
http://www.sounddevices.com/notes/pix/sync-offset/
Fairly simple in-the-field (well, prep-day/hour) method that a SD support guy suggests:
----
Here's a quick and accurate way to calibrate input audio delay to match your video camera's SDI out processing delay . . .
- Feed mic signal to both camera and PIX audio inputs
- Set PIX Audio Input to "Analog 2ch + SDI"
- Set PIX [headphone] monitor to monitor all audio inputs in mono ('12345678' setting)
- Adjust PIX audio input delay until you no longer hear any delay or phasing between the SDI and analog input.

But that did require spending some time with the manual, working with the things a bit, and all that. Perhaps the device was tossed into production's hands without enough time for them to suss it out.
