I've been researching the best solution in dealing with footage shot on the Panasonic Z10000. I'm working on a 3d show in MC 6 on a MAC and the problem with the Panasonic footage is that the files are muxed when imported into AVID. We need to work with separate R & L clips which can be done but it's a big pain. I found out that Sony Vegas can import the files and demux the clips. Then you have to export each R & L clip as a separate MXF file. Edius and Cineform can do the same thing. When you're dealing with hundreds of clips, it can be very time consuming. Plus these programs are PC based at this time. We can't use Cineform because the company that will be Onlining the show said that they've had many issues with clips that were created in Cineform. I also found out that Blackmagic has a card that would take the muxed file and separate it into R and L clips. I'm not sure if the Blackmagic box will do the trick.
I'm trying to find an easy and faster solution if one exists. It would be great when you AMA the clips, AVID would demux the clips automatically. Unfortunately, this is wishful thinking at this time.
