Agreed. I should have qualified that. The issues I've seen are in the onboard recordings of some Panasonic cameras and Canon 5Ds. The latter, of course, doesn't output over SDI. It's not uncommon to see these with advanced audio. In fact, Apple used to include an audio sync compensation tool with FCP specifically for the DVX100, since that's when it started for Panasonic.
