Sadly, it only works with the protools version of the 888/24, basically the last of the batch. But it works GREAT. If there's no computer attached, the 888 switches automatically to a D/A A/D converter, setting it's sample rate and bit depth based on whatever's presented at AES IN 1/2. Of course, it doesn't go above 48k / 24bit, but that's fine for most of what we're doing. Very cheap A/D converter for surround sound.
The Avid version doesn't work.
