Ta. That's what the tutorial video showed - works well. On my initial test, 3 clips stayed offline. A moment's thought about what I'd been told years ago about relinking and I realised that the 3 clips had been edited in their entirety in FCP. Going back to FCP and trimming a couple of frames off each clip meant that the exported sequence linked correctly in MC second time around.
