I swear this wasn't happening two weeks ago, so I don't think it's a bug - maybe a weird little setting I changed without realizing it? Can't figure it out.
The way it's always worked before: a 23.98 timeline, in the output tool, set the deck control to 'sequence time' and then set the output to 5994/with a 30i anamorphic downconvert - and the sequence time is converted from 23.98 to 29.97 correctly.
But now, there's some crazy calculation/conversion going on - the 30NDF equivalent of 58:30:00 is suddenly 48 minutes and some odd seconds. WTF? Also, if you pull down the second timecode display above the 'record' monitor (sequence monitor?) and set it to 30ND - the calculation is crazy wrong. Like... it's just adding instead of converting or something. Again, WTF?
I'm sure this is some simple thing that I set wrong... but I can't figure that out. Please embarrass me by setting me straight. I can type in 'mark in' time, but, you know, if I wanted an irritating and unreliable output tool, I'd be using FCP7.
