[Avid-L2] Systems, do they stil need official avid support?

 

My macpro died last week, and is getting checked but I was wondering do you still need a "qualified" system?
My macpro wasn't blessed but it worked fine. But I am looking at a PC build, either a singular 3930K or getting 2 3770K systems so I can clone between the 2.
I seem to be doing more compositing in fusion so MC6 and a PC would be look to be very nice and no more reboot to win on the mac.
Do people here use non qualified systems?
