[Avid-L2] QT Ref gotcha I should have known but do now!!!!

As I move into the file based delivery for some of my shows with 4 channels of audio I've been using the QT ref out of avid to then make a self contained movie with QT Pro.  The process is relatively painless.  One gotcha I hadn't noticed is that the QT ref ignores the mixer tool.  I should have thought of this as a QT ref points to the media which is not altered by the mix tool settings.  I've been putting a mono mix of the show on channels 3 and 4.  I create a mono mixdown and drop it -6db and everything looks fine in the timeline.  My QC is to link ama the final self contained QT and check bars and tone and make sure video goes to the end.  Today I noticed that the mono tracks are hot about 6db relative to the stereo mix.  I'd seen this before when I had forgotten to set channels 3 and 4 to -6db in mix tool.  At least that's what I thought was the cause for the hot levels.  I went back and the sequence was set to -6db and still the hot
levels.  Turns out I need to bake in the -6db by creating another mixdown of the tracks lowered -6db.  Of course this makes sense now.  Kinda surprising no one at the network has said anything about the mono mix being hot on the files so far.  Oh well thought this might help someone else avoid this bonehead error.
