[Avid-L2] Annoying pauses whilst editing

 

Hello boys and girls,

I'm running a composer V5 on my laptop and it has a frustrating trait of pausing for a good 10>20 seconds when closing a bin. It also tends to have a 'think' when I lift material out of the time line. Play length helps but not significantly. The sequences are not overly complicated. Mostly V1, V2 with a couple of titles on v3>5 and A1>4.

Now I suspect this is due to the project being based around 95% AMA material from Canon XF305/C300/5dMkII things (The 5d material I transcoded to DNx).

I can't say I've had this problem on other projects, HDV or SD stuff - I've done 9 cam multi camera edits quite happily, but I just wondered if there was a quick fix/pointers until I can get my new workstation and MC6.

Some spec
* Dell T7500 Dual core @2.2g 4gb ram w7-64 sp1
* Ext USB 3 drives for media storage (express card USB3)
* MC5
* 30 Bins of AMA material and 10 mins worth of imported graphics
