There was a Japanese vendor showing a new type of optical Thunderbolt cable
which is compatible with the present Apple made copper cables. 4500 yen was
mentioned as a Japanese local price.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Thunderbolt Cable (note the singular).
Apologies for the cross posting but this is a very general question...
Is there any reason why when I can now buy multiple Thunderbolt devices from
multiple vendors, I can still only purchase a Thunderbolt cable at one fixed
length from Apple? When will this monopoly end? Have Apple bought the world
supply of Gennum chips?
I searched NAB and didn't see any other brand - did anyone else spot one in
the distance recesses of the LVCC?
Cheers
