But I believe I'm doing something similar with MC. I select "Disable Locator Popup Window" In the settings, and just bang my locator key twice if in fact I do want it to open so I can append text. Seems to work like a charm.

This is where Final Cut is more convenient. You hit the key twice for the
comment box to open, once if you just want to leave a "marker". What a concept.
Knowing how frequently locators are used, it would be nice if AVID thought up a
similar method. It's all or nothing? Why?
