[Avid-L2] Re: Biscardi makes his decision

Actually, once you get to know the DS interface (and its been a long while since I have been on DS), I found going back to MC incredibly rigid, old and "basic". Same thing going back from FCP7 (once I really got to know it) going back to MC. It felt like some creative freedom as lost....and lets not get started on the ridiculous way MC handles effects compared to DS and even FCP7.

I think Steve is right. The strain on the depleted engineering staff makes it really difficult to be truly "innovative" (while maintaining and upgrading multiple versions) and you have a user-base that is resistant to change. Add those up and you get nearly identical MC and Symphony going after the same customer base with DS on a different orbital plane.

Who knows? Maybe Avid will pull a rabbit out of it's, err, hat next week and surprise us all!
