The question, when you boil it down, is how many DSP cards do you need,
really?

I scoped out the install of 11 Pro Tools rigs recently (using existing TDM
hardware). They each got 1 mix and 1 DSP card, leaving plenty of room for
the Decklink cards. This is for a professional post facility in NYC, and
everyone's happy. Most of the processing these days can run native, and
that can save you a lot of overhead on TDM. With your average 8-core Mac
Pro, doing TV promo post work, it seemed unnecessary to put any more in
there.

Your <track count> may vary...
