Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Tapeless Reality Check - clip names "00000".

FWIW at least at one point in FCP land you were never supposed to
rename clips. I think the solution was to use comments to fulfill
typical naming needs and then display clip comments in the
timeline.

Here is a recent thread along these lines:

(I hope I didn't just screw up someone's RSS feed…)

This would be a great time for Bob Russo from Avid to chime in.

Victim speaking, my timeline just says "00000", "00001", etc.
This is crazy to me; somehow we've lost something that's been in
NLEs pretty much since day 1. That broll shot covering the cut?
"00000".

I can do to make my edit less hair-pully-outey? I saw that now
I've got the option to display comments in the timeline, but that
seems to line up with the comments you add via the record monitor
which were intended to send a note to the online editor in the
EDL, not the comments field which you get in the script bin view
(I think that's what it's called). Any ideas? At this point I've
just turned the text off and turned the frame view on and I'm
pretending I'm sitting at a Steenbeck.
