I use an AJA IOXT. If your Mac has Thunderbolt, that is probably the cleanest and easiest solution. I just posted a similar post on FCP-L...

Basically the IOXT is like the IO Express box that worked with the Express card slot on the older MacBookPros. I like the IOXT a lot better even though the form factor and look and functionality is very similar because the connection and cabling to Thunderbolt is so much more elegant than the card with the wires coming out of the side of it. The connection feels more stable to me.

Also, the IOXT is not just "video out" but you can actually do capture off of it and deck control and all kinds of up down and cross conversions. Plenty of "gozeintos" and "gozeouttas." I like the fact that you can run it off of battery power easily, though I've never actually done it myself.
