I did that update with a self-built system that has a GTX570 and Avid's playback froze, so I don't recommend the most recent one. BUT, I am definitely running something higher than the one Avid recommends. It's been my experience that it's usually fine to do the NVidia updates and if Avid acts funky, just go back to the old one.
That said, if you're in the middle of a project -- it's not worth any potential hassle.
