Re: [Avid-L2] A silly question about DeckLink and MC6

A little extra feedback on the DeckLink experience so far...

Overall it's an awesome little card, lots of I/O connections (including
always-on SD downconversion) - gives me HD-SDI I/O for deck connections
(not that I have any decks connected), HDMI for simple monitoring, SD-SDI
for other decks or scope or monitor I guess, as well as full analogue
options - S-Video, Component and Composite (all at once, not shared
connections).

I have found it to be a wee bit crashy - something I do seems to crash the
playback engine and lock the software. It's not random, there's definitely
a pattern to it, but I haven't quite figured it out. It seems to be pretty
avoidable though. Disabling "Fast Scrub" may have had a positive impact.

For the overall cost - we built a standalone offline suite for under NZ$10k
including MC license - it's a fantastic set up. Still not sure I'd trust it
for my main Symphony online suite in place of the Nitris DX we're currently
using.

Although I did put a DeckLink SDI card in that machine just to see what
would happen (because I want to use Resolve on it) - the answer is nothing.
Once Symphony detects the DX hardware it totally ignores the DeckLink card
(and presumably any other Open I/O hardware). So I can conceivably run
Symphony and Resolve alongside each other fairly well (and get video
preview in After Effects etc)
