If you set your undo (Composer settings? Timeline settings?) so it pays
attention to the source side as well as record, does that allow you to
undo your extraction?
I've often wanted to be able to check the length of a dissolve, or
parameters set in an effect in the source side, or drag an effect
template to a bin from there. Too bad you can't open the effect editor
in some kind of read-only mode on the source side.
