Re: [Avid-L2] 3D questions

Hello All

We are cutting a S3D project at present. It started on set as a 5.5 project
and we have converted it to a 6 project for post.
I know this flies in the face of normal project working, by upgrading in a
project. But the set work was just syncing the audio.
In 5.5 in order to view S3D on your television you need to have the files
muxed together, as say side by side. You can do this in MetaFuze, but you
can also do it in many other applications. We have been using Red Rocket
and DaVinci Resolve. You'll need the full version of Resolve for this.
I would say if the PC's in your accounts dept. are like ours then MetaFuze
would be very slow on them.
You don't say what format you are shooting. If it is Red or something like
that you may have a DIT on set that could do this for you.
We went to v6 as the client wanted to use the new Panasonic P1 Camera [
shoots P2 ] and our normal P2 workflow is AMA.
We are finding the tools to work as documented. The software is, touch
wood, stable on our HP Z400's. We are using Unity, and sharing projects and
media.
I would say that if you cut anything in 5.5 then upgrade to 6 and want to
use the S3D tools you will need to create new S3D clips and therefore
re-edit your sequences.

If you have anything else we can help with just ask.
