I don't have this drive, but I was wondering if it'd be worth your while & ultimately easier to crack open the enclosure and use it as a bare drive instead if you can't find a resolution. If you're using a Mac Pro with an open bay, pop it in there or maybe pick up a drive dock or WiebeTech. My philosophy is that if you're getting errors that make no sense, you could be walking through the door to actual transfer errors or corruptions and compromising your data.
