There was a recent thread on a similar topic. Take the existing omfi folder that is working and stuff it into another folder so it is no longer visable to the Avid. Create a title to create a new omfi folder on the drive. Take the problem files that you have fixed the permissions on and put them into this new omfi folder and let Avid rebuild the database. Create a new folder in avid and drag the rebuild msm database file to the bin and see if Avid populates the bin with clips of the problem media. This will tell you if the media works or not and eliminates relinking issues that might be causing you to not see the problem media in a final sequence. Also depending on the history of the media be it PC or mac to PC you might have those "_" ghost files in addition to the real media files. I think if you look you will see the _ files that are small or even 0K. I really don't think the permissions of the actual media files causes problems but the databases etc... certainly do.
