well, this is fun :-)
So if you need (common) timecode, your options are to buy a hardware LTC to
422 converter (about 500 usd)
Or, buy my LTC reader (undocumented feature, it can output 422 tc as well
over a serial port), but you need a computer as well...
Or, record the LTC on an audio channel, Avid plays nice with that. (and
otherwise i have software to read it.)
But darn, the thing has no audio inputs so you need to embed the LTC in the
SDI stream.
If you are lucky, your cam can do this (use the audio part of the cam for
input LTC)
Otherwise, you need a box to add the LTC sound to SDI, also 500 bucks for
each channel you want to record.
But if you go this route, you can use the Mini as well.
Still, the most expensive setup is still about 2K per channel to record HD,
ingest lighning fast.
That used to be 16 times as high with HDcam...
