What I think rates a commendation here is that the smart ones know that
you should work with what works best for your project regardless of your
allegiances to those who make equipment and such. After the CMX to Avid
migration I never really switched edit systems because I never needed
to, but I easily could have at any time. I have switched from Mac to
Windows and back several times. BM is a lot bigger than me. It took guts
and a lot of work to switch the editing app the first time and again to
move back. And in neither case do I think they did it because they
"liked" the company.
I'd be interested to hear about the actual decision process.
