[Avid-L2] Re: Internal RAID not showing up

Hi Tony,

this sounds weird!

From what you've wrote I guess the RAID is not the problem, but the sequences from another editor who's running MC 5.0.x.

Do you open the Project that you get from the other editor?
If so, try opening one of those bins from a known-good project and see how it behaves. If you have still problems, copy the suspect sequence into a new one. Next step would be 'repairsequences' which you enter in the console, but be careful with such commands!

In general Avid speaks of 'Bin Compatibility' - you can open bins in older or newer versions compared to the version it created. I'd create a new project with the same name as the on you get from the other editor, close MC and copy only the bins (and folders that contain bins) over to the new project. Then it should work just fine.

If this works or not - I'm a big fan of checking drives (both system & media)! Therefore use Disk First Aid to 'repair disk' as well as 'repair permissions' on a regular basis (each 2nd week). And from my experience it is very helpful if you activate 'ignore ownership' on your media drives.

If you're a serious Mac fan / supporty you should own a copy of DiskWarrior from Alsoft (about 100 bucks) which is a great tool because it really helps the file system to stay healthy, startup your Mac faster etc. And if one of your drives is sick, DW can often heal it quickly! :-)

HTH & good luck!
Ben

PS: Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with Alsoft but I'm a enthusiastic User of DiskWarrior since version 1.0 and I recovered an unbelievable amount of data in all those years by using it! :-)
