Thanks again for the help. The tapes are DV25 NTSC 411. I do not see
interlace artifact playing the tapes back via s-video from the digital 8
camcorder and I do not see any artifact playing the captured video full-screen
within MC6. The solution seems to lie in the Options for the Export Settings
but I am not yet making much progess. I selected Custom rather than Same as
Source and then the Format Options where there are many many options. Under
Video and Settings I have tried Compression Type = Avid DV Codec and
Interlaced or Progressive and odd frame first without success. I am now
trying DV/DVPRO NTSC rather than Avid DV Codec. There are a number of
possible combinations; one should work. David.

Just checked this - DV QT export with 'Avid Codec' checked does indeed create
Upper Field first files in MC4, 5.5 and 6. I'd forgotten all about this issue.
Thanks Bouke.
David - did you say your stuff was PAL or NTSC? 411 is not enough info.

If you export as QT it is the same content, but in the Avid DV codec.
And that is upper field first while the rest of the world uses lower field
first.
If you export from Avid with the 'use Avid codecs' turned off, you end up with
the 'correct' field order.
(Do check yourself, there was some madness in some versions, same as with
color levels)
