Subject: Re: [Avid-L2] Internal SATA Drives
I'm seriously hoping that doesn't last too much longer. Our archive system
is based on a combination of raw drives and LTO- We make at least two
copies of everything we want to keep- and... I'm running out of stock on raw
drives. Given the number of drives we go through, it's not really
cost-effective to continue archiving this way. Hopefully we'll see the
prices start to inch back down.
SR is awesome... wait... File based is awesome... wait... archiving to kodak
is awesome... wait...
sigh.

a good supply of Western Digitals and Seagates. All they had were WD Green
and Blue drives and only the 5400RPM versions. Prices were 1.5 to 2X from a
year ago. When you check online for anything raw in the 1TB-3TB 7200RPM
variety (like WD Caviar Black), you find a lot of "out-of-stock" listings.
