[Avid-L2] Export to XDCAM device times

 

We tend to have a mix of DVCProHD, AVC-Intra and AVCHD in our
program, transcoded to DNx145 and digital cut to HDCAM tape for
delivery to 13 stations. (Adrenaline Bobs, MCS 5.5 on 8-core
Nehalem MacPros)

I have just learned today that most of our stations will also
accept delivery of the program on XDCAM HD disks.

Have never used XDCAM... how fast does exporting to an XDCAM
device (say, a PDW-U1 or U2 drive) from Media Composer happen? If
it is faster than real time, it may well be worth switching to
XDCAM for those stations.

Have searched the archives and googled, but not found any
references to the speed of exporting to devices...
