Re: [Avid-L2] V6 Unity

Not sure what document Nigel was referring to, but here it is, from the 5.5 Media Network Client Readme, page 11:

MediaNetwork Ethernet Connections Not Supported

The MediaNetwork v5.5 client software does not support Ethernet connections to the
MediaNetwork infrastructure.

http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/attach/MediaNetwork_ReadMe_v5_5_1.pdf

Being that MC6 runs only on Lion and 5.5 is the only Lion qualified Unity client, conclusion is easy to figure out.

What is not clear at this stage is wether Avid did not have the time to qualify Ethernet clients or they simply elected to drop it.

I followed that link and it lead to a discussion thread on the Avid community forum. I found two more links in the thread. One lead to the Overview page for MC v6

http://www.avid.com/us/products/media-composer?intcmp=AV-HP-S2

and the other lead to the What's New doc for MC v6

http://www.avid.com/static/resources/common/documents/Products/WhatsNew_MediaComposer_v6.0.pdf

And in neither could I find the quote that Nigel made.

"There is no support for ethernet attached clients in a MediaNetwork

environment"

That is supposed to be on a page 19 somewhere. I would really like to see it in context in the document that it came from but can not find it anywhere. I find it very odd that a direct link to the referred ReadMe is so difficult to generate for someone and that this ReadMe is so elusive. Where does it actually exist and where can I find it?

Thank you,

Jay
