I wish I knew what you saw. As Paul said, it does sound like you
viewed a switch from live camera shots to a recorded b-roll. In order
to draw your conclusion, most likely you didn't have the sound turned
up. The on-air talent were probably talking about what's to come on
the show, which was augmented with video at the change from live
camera to a b-roll.
Without trying to sound like I'm defending myself (and without
knowing exactly what you were looking at), I'll try to explain what we
do. We cut teases and opens with the material we have for the
purpose; the purpose being, to interest viewers in what's yet to come
in the show. It's not as easy as everyone seems to think it is. To
say we don't have standards shows a lack of understanding the purpose
of our work.
If what you were watching was within an edited story, I'd like to see
what you're talking about in order to make my own judgement. What
time of day did this occur?
