Media100 jumped onto the 8100 and got the drop on Avid for a while as
there was a lot of work to do to get the MC to fly on the new PPC chips
I think.

As Media100 started on the PPC they didn't have a load of old x86 code
to port.

For editing possibly, but I remember seeing a demo of Media 100 at
Yorkshire TV (1994?) and being amazed by the quality. This was when we
were offlining on Avid at AVR3 I think.
