RE: [Avid-L2] Media Composer and Red Rocket card NO SUPPORT !!

Jeff,

Thanks for that. I have red cine x setup and it has been happily sitting
happily as a unity client
making DNXHD mxf for my Avids over the last year and a half now. So no
concern of faulty hardware.
Bogdan thanks for the link !. Not sure why it takes me to "Dragons cave"???

Not fully qualified, performance not guaranteed, no shared storage support'

They just need to add Not Supported to this list and now we are getting
places.

I'll give you one other hint to look for... make sure that you have it set
to use 'full debayer' (I BELIEVE that is what the setting is called...) it's
in the 'red' settings in the project.
I have set up red-cine X on an external machine - and use it to create .MXF
and .ALE files that go in to the avid. This has been a good workflow for us.

It is MUCH faster than MC (w/o red rocket card)...
It doesn't make sense for use to use red rocket card inside of Avid because
we have too many Avids - so I haven't tried actually getting the card to
work along with the Avid, as you are trying to do.

I propose you set up 'red cine x' on the machine to make sure that IT sees
the card and transcodes faster with it (once again you have to be using full
debayer) then once you know the hardware is working then try to get Avid's
software to play nice with it.

this isn't an 'emergency,' but I can't get Media Composer to use the Red
Rocket card directly - Is there a switch or trick somewhere for that? In
this case, a Mac running MC 5.5.3. The CPU is seeing the Rocket Card - RCX
on the same machine works great - but media composer's not seeing it.
