You have. It must be more difficult than we imagine.

My hunch is that, with the onset of:

A) 64-bit OS functionality
B) Better support in said OS's for multiple cores and such
C) An ever-growing array of Interplay Media Services (for those of us in a
Workgroup environment)

... that all the pieces of the puzzle are on the table for both background,
as well as distributed, rendering.

I am optimistic.
