Thanks, I have no idea if he even loaded the OS or he bought it
already installed. I guess I've got some questions to ask

        I offer:

    I had the exact same setup (MC 5.0.3.7) and it worked fine for me 
(Now, I have MC 5.5.3 and MacOS 10.6.8).
    Before I installed MC 5.5.3, I also ran v5.0.3.7 under MacOS 10.6.8 
with no problems.
    When installing a newer version, did he uninstall the previous 
version?  That's always the best procedure.  I've never had an 
unstable Avid when I've uninstalled the previous version first with 
the Uninstaller App located in the Applications Folder.
