Re: [Avid-L2] CNN cuts workforce editors

Next from CNN:
"Because everyone knows how to use Google to search for what they are interested in, we'll be using a Google ranking index to create our minute-to-minute rundown of stories. Consumers shoot and edit what's happening, and now they can produce the shows, too."

Jeez, looks like I started something when I posted Walter's blog here earlier this week.  Although I suppose it prompted him to jump onto the L2, if only to explain a few things.  Which can only be a good thing.

Now this news.  Of course Yahoo had a story earlier this year about the long term shrinking that was going to happen in the post world, and in LA it's been happening for a while, as any freelancer knows all too well.  But this is one of the bluntest reports I've read, and affects Atlanta directly.

Of course, nothing is the end-all and be-all.  I don't expect this group of accomplished and well-to-do pros to be overly concerned; anyway, I'm not trying to stir the pot, just figure it never hurts to keep abreast of news that relates.
