5.5/9.5 and earlier used a software licensing scheme where you launched the app and you received the in app launch page where you could select Use a dongle, Trial or SW licensing.
Version 6/10 uses a Unified licensing scheme which activates via the Avid License Control tool. An older version of this tool was used for SS and PF activations but a new tool is provided with 6/10 that has the 16 digit spaces for the new activation ID.
