Resolve will work fine with the newer ATI cards for display. The NVIDIA cards are needed for the second GPU card to get CUDA acceleration. With only a single GPU card (ATI or cheaper GeForce card) you won't get true real-time playback and will have to render. Same as with Color. You do need the BMD card for video I/O, although you can run it just from the desktop display without any I/O card.
