The way I read it, the complaint is about the "delete" key, i.e the
one that says "delete" on it. As opposed to the other key which has a
left-arrow and *doesn't* say "delete" on it. That's the one I call
"backspace", since that's what it does.

confusion when communicating, since the two buttons often have totally
different uses.
As you can probably guess, this is one of my little pet (petty?)
grievances with general computer vocabulary. Though I think it's
actually a Mac grievance since I believe it's only Apple who
officially refer to the backspace button on their keyboards as delete.
Yet still print "delete" on the delete key. Genius.
So the problem as I see it, is that when the cursor is placed in the
middle of a sequence (or whatever) name, and "delete" (not backspace)
is held down until all characters to the right of the cursor have
gone, continued pressing actually now backspaces over the text to the
left of the cursor. I'm not in front of an Avid to check right now,
but I think the reference to Apple solving this issue possibly means
this is only a problem on PCs now.
