I agree that Auto Monitoring should be off as the default.

Since we're sharing tips, I thought I'd point out that in version 5 (maybe starting in v4?) you can map 8 different Timeline Views to the keyboard. If you haven't rummaged through your Command Palette lately, you may have missed this little gem.
