Filling a hard drive until it is full is a bad idea. We never let our Unity or ISIS get over 85% full, but what about individual workspaces? They are not technically hard drives seeing as they can be spread over multiple drives in the RAID right? Often we reduce the size of an unused workspace right down to give us more overall space on the SAN so my question is, is this just as bad as filling up the whole Unity or ISIS or is it ok to take a workspace down til it's 95% full? Our sister company filled up their Unity and it fell over but we regularly have very full (95%+) workspaces with no problems at all (as long as no one is working with them, then we give them good headroom). What's the current wisdom on this? What do other people do?
Cheers,
Andi
