I'm not Avid but I'm sure the reasoning is that it would not be
necessary. With NitrisDX, you have lots of options for a third full
screen monitor.

HD-SDI
SD-SDI
HDMI
Component and Composite Analog

If you're working in HD, you can set a real-time SD downconvert in
your video output settings.
