Why because as I understand it he has a project that has been living on this system for years and he some how wound up picking up 6 full systems from someone who was throwing them out and they offered to set it up for him. He just picked up a laptop but this was FREE!!!! when he started including the storage. He is upgrading soon but free is free and it's been very stable for him and I'm the first tech call he's made and that was just to help figure out how to add more storage.. I didn't even know people were still using these things until he called me and asked to check it out. I'm the first one to say upgrade. I had a client still running an Avid 5.1 up until about 2 years ago. Now that thing was crazy in today's standards. Hit start button then go have lunch and it might be booted before you get back to start the project and then you would have time for a coffee break before you could actually start working.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Re: Driver for Avid Fibre Channel Mac Os 9
You guys are killing me. I'm going to channel Bob Z since he doesn't seem to frequent these parts anymore.
"Buy a cheap ass RAID attached with an ATTO fibre card and an MC soft crossgrade from FCP for 995. Pick up a Matrox mini or AJA IO Express. Now you are in business WITH HD I/O in the Avid universe for a pittance. Why baby an ancient Meridien along when it costs more to do that than to come into the 21st century?"
(How did I do?)

He does not have a manual for this thing or the driver. Does anyone out there still have the JNI driver for the card or a manual still floating around?

If you want to donate to Red Cross quake relief, you can do so through your cell phone. Text redcross to 90999 to make a $10 donation. It will be on your next cell bill.
