But in a truly great movie, you should NOT notice the editing, the cinematography, the sound design, and the writing. In a truly great movie you are wholly swept up in the story. All the other "noticing" comes later, after the initial experience.

But 3D is different somehow. It WANTS to be noticed at the moment, which makes it something that is OUTSIDE the story.

Reasonable people may disagree, of course.
