I have a Matrox mini and am rather happy with it:
- price is very affordable,
- works on desktops and also on laptops,
- small footprint,
- analog and digital outs that can be configured separately,
But there are a couple of caveats:
- external monitor is behind the full screen display/Composer window by a couple of frames,
- some true 24p (not 23.98) shows scan lines on external monitor.
Probably other things to say, but those are the ones bugging me.
Also, I don't know what is the situation with Lion OS 10.7.
