few fast remarks:
For DVD, you can put 23.976 (in NTSC resolution, 720*480 anamorph) on DVD.
The player will add pulldown if needed, and the discs are playable in 99% of
the PAL sets.

The shutter speed only comes into play if you shoot under fluoricent light.
If you shoot a feature in a controlled environment, i would not worry about
it too much.

But if you must know, from the manual:

Change the shutter speed

displayed on the screen by

turning the SEL/PUSH EXEC dial

G.

You can adjust the shutter speed in a

range of 1/3 second through 1/10000

second.

The denominator of the set shutter speed

appears on the screen. For example,

[100] appears on the screen when you

set the shutter speed to 1/100 second.

The larger the value on the screen is, the

faster the shutter speed is.

Smells like a 'clearscan' function found on a lot of Sony cams (you know,
getting CRT's to look nice)

Hm OK, still looks like my best option is shooting 23.97. If I can just find
