[Avid-L2] Re: 24p/25p?

I have over seen over a 100 features shot on film, red or alexa in 24fps in the USA and Europe. 23.97 exists in the pro-am camera market that use a non intra codec (mpeg etc). Avid has a very simple off line / conform workflow for 24fps that is designed for the cinema. Www.avid.com has a dedicated forum that answers all the above questions. Concerning a 24 / 25 fps workflow, to avoid dropframes, the films are played back at 25. As for 23.97 which is virtually exclusively a file based workflow, opening the rushes in vlc will identify the run speed. NEVER TRUST A DOP OR A CAMERA MANUFACTURER FOR THE PLAY RATE.
Also, there is loads of info on the subject at www.24p.com
